If you're in Den Bosch area during summer, you might want to clear your schedule in Saturday or Sunday. Those market days are very important because during the summer you can find an antique ice cream cart with a very diligent-well mannered-friendly looking man in front of de stadhuis (the city hall).
The cart is decorated with statues in European costumes and elaborate paintings depicting the quiet charms of the rural area, seaside, farm animals, boats, village houses, and flower vase. On the middle top there's a sign saying "Anno 1907". The details are crazy enough to make me quit whatever I was doing, and to approach the cart to buy the ice cream while admiring the details.
But of course the star of the show is always the excellent ice cream itself. Imagine licking thick, creamy ice cream with cherry slices and cherry jam and tasting the perfect amount of sweet, sour, and savory. 'T Spul van De Rul's yoghurt kersen ijs (yoghurt cherry ice cream) is probably the most delicious artisanal ice cream you'll ever tasted in the entire universe.
